Hi guys, it’s Amya! So I started school last week and so far so good. I really like my school building. It has lots of windows and spaces for creation. It also has a snake. I don’t really care for that. My teacher is nice and of course, I like making new friends.
I was feeling a little nervous about starting first grade because, well, I don’t know how to do all the math. I know some math but not all of it and I know first grade is for big kids who can do lots of things. I talked to my mommy about it and she said that I shouldn’t worry about knowing all of it on the first day because I would learn over time. She also said that if it turns out that I don’t know something to whisper to myself “It’s ok not to know and I am capable of learning!” She also told me a funny quote from Dr. Seuss: “You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” Well, guess what? She was right! I don’t have to know everything yet because I’m learning every day and I do know how to think and learn. All I have to do is decide what I want to know more about and learn about it! So there you have it. First grade is off to a great start and I can’t wait to tell you what I’ve learned next! Adios!
