You're On Your Way

There seems to be something in the air. Now more than ever, it seems that so many people are being challenged in their careers for one reason or another. The daily conversations that I entertain are full of frustration, doubt, and oftentimes, hopelessness as it relates to work. I’ve heard more than ever from both people that I know well and those who are just acquaintances that they are feeling lost, undervalued, and unsure about the positions they occupy in life.

Most people who know me know that I am a strong advocate for living your best life and walking in your truth. I do not believe in giving anyone the power to make you doubt who you are and what you are capable of accomplishing for any reason. I also believe wholeheartedly in self-awareness. One must have an understanding of who they are and how they show up in spaces and the relationship that it creates with the circumstances that they find themselves in. Taking a self-inventory is the first critical step in changing any situation for good. The second step is shifting your mindset to know that you have the power and capacity to make such changes.

A couple of weeks ago, our Future President of Herd Strategies, Amya, shared in her #AmyasWednesdayWakeUp, a quote from Dr. Suess that reads “you have brains in your head and feet in your shoes. Steer yourself in any direction you choose.” This quote is a part of my core values. We all possess the power to make decisions for ourselves that serve in our best interests. It often requires though that we face some truths about ourselves that may be uncomfortable. It also requires that we trust ourselves to make some hard decisions and a willingness to activate our faith to carry us through those decisions. No one should continuously endure any situation that takes the very best of what they have to offer and turn it into doubt. But before you make a move, make sure that you aren’t the problem. Take the time to evaluate yourself and then calibrate the best course of action to upright the ship.

In case you happen to be one of the ones who’s feeling the pressure, I simply want to remind you that you have everything you need for this moment in time. You are capable; you are talented; and you are worthy. Get out of your head. Get out of your way and get on with your destiny. We are waiting on you to shine.
