The Reality of Aging: Supporting the Ones Who Raised Us
Since I tend not to share my life openly on social media, many of you might not know that my mother passed away last summer. She lived a full life, so when we accepted that it was, as some say, βGod calling her home,β we said our goodbyes, and she left us. That didnβt make it any easier, though.
What I Learned About Cancel Culture: Reputation, Responsibility, and Resilience
You may not be aware of this, but several years ago, someone tried to cancel me.
While a significant amount of time has passed, I would be lying to you if I didnβt share that during those few months when the situation occurred, I was scared. The person who wanted to cancel me was always one step ahead. They repurposed social media graphics that included my image and company logo, tagged me and many people in the community, and were on a quest to destroy my name, brand, and credibility. If that wasnβt bad enough, the personβs supporters were sharing the posts, emailing me, sending direct messages, and even making phone calls and sending text messages after my phone number was publicly shared. As if that wasnβt bad enough, one person even volunteered to camp out in front of my office so they could deal with me directly.

Recently, while driving home from an early morning workout, I noticed the traffic slowing down. Cars usually move at a pretty good pace in the morning, so I couldnβt figure out what was going on, and then I saw it. The big yellow blob, red flashing lights, the stop arm extended for all to see, and students slowly ambling down the sidewalk as if they were headed into battle rather than the classroom! That's such a relatable moment - there's something almost surreal about encountering that first school bus of the new academic year, especially when you're in that post-workout, early morning headspace.
